Player Responsibilities

Pitcher
Primary Responsibilities
1. Throw fast-ball strikes
2. Alter tempo with Change-ups
3. Hold Runners close

Secondary Responsibilities
1. Field pitcher zones on bunts, pop-ups, and back-up responsibilities (like covering 1st and home).
2. Call pop-ups between catcher, 1st base and 3rd base to eliminate collisions

Pitcher Psychology:
1. Build fearsome pitching style
2. Learn to stare-down batters
3. Own the plate
4. Build personal confidence
5. Have competitive spirit "never give-up" attitude
6. Develop bulldog mentality

Catcher
Primary Responsibilities
1. Handle the low ball and the pitch in the dirt (blocking)
2. Control runners (throwing)
- accuracy
- quickness
- strength
3. Handle pitchers
- soft hands
- framing
- psychological (control the pitchers, know the batters, know the pitcher
Secondary Responsibilities
1. Bunt zones coverage
2. Pop up/fouls zones
3. Be the field general

First Base
Primary Responsibilities
1. Handle the slow roller
2. Guard the line
3. Move to the right
Secondary Responsibilities
1. Bunt zones coverage
2. Pop up/fouls zones coverage
- communications with catcher
- coverage to the fence
3. Cutoffs and relays
4. Holding and Tagging runners

Second Base
Primary Responsibilities
1. Quick to the glove
2. Range to the left
3. Making the pivot on the double play
4. Handle the slow roller
Secondary Responsibilities
1. Cover bag and tags
2. Pop-ups zone coverage
3. Cut-offs and relays

Shortstop
Primary Responsibilities
1. Make play in the hole
2. Execute double play with lead throw and pivot
3. Handle slow roller
Secondary Responsibilities
1. Cover bag and tags

Third Base
Primary Responsibilities
1. Handle the slow roller
2. Range to the left
3. Guard the line

Left Field

2. Quick to the side especially the line
3. Hit cut-off man
4. Communications with center, third and shortstop on pop-ups

2. Backup responsibilities
3. Movement with the count and situations

Center Field
Primary Responsibilities
1. 1st step is to go back on the ball
2. Have excellent range to power alleys
3. Hit cutoff man

Right Field
Primary Responsibilities
1. Quick to the line
2. Hit the cutoff man
3. Charge the ball hard, un control, and make a quality throw to cutoff man to keep runner from going
from 1st to 3rd.
